My inspiration was Grant Wood's Iowa landscapes for the more abstract portions, and Mitsuko Tonouchi for the more detailed elements. The frame measures approximately 22 by 38 inches.
Winter
My inspiration came from eleven years spent in the shopping-center business, which including staging Santa photos every holiday season. Santa's snow consisted of an initial batting layer followed by myriad strands of white lights. The lights were topped with tulle and then sprinkled with 'snowflakes,' iridescent glitter and such. Each element is represented on the drum shade, although the photo does not show the beads sparkling qualities very well. For scale: the 'frame' has an 18 inch diameter.
